The Kwara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has dedicated the victory of the party at the recently conducted House of Assembly by-election in the state to the embattled Senate President, Bukola Saraki.
The party also declared that Kwara State is a no-go area for the political adversaries of the Senate President.
In the election, the candidate of the APC, Mrs Victoria Olubunmi Afolayan won by landslide margin over her main opponent, the candidate of the PDP, Mr Olusola Adeoti.
Mrs Afolayan emerged the consensus candidate of the APC to contest the election after the death of her husband, How. Moses Afolayan, who represented the same constituency until his demise.
The returning officer of Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Dr. Rasheed Gbenga Jimoh, announced that the APC won 68 out of 69 polling units in the constituency.
In an press statement sent to Sahara Reporters Rescue via e-mail, the Chairman of the APC in Kwara State, Ishola Valium Fulani, was quoted to have said, “we hereby dedicate this victory to the Senate President.

“In clear terms, the result of the poll has shown that despite the noises of the opposition PDP, the popularity of the APC in Kwara State remained unthreatened”.
“We also congratulate the lawmaker-elect and commend our party members in the constituency for mobilising for the resounding victory of the party.
“Indeed, notwithstanding the politically-motivated trial of the Senate President, the fact that Dr. Bukola Saraki stood firmly by the party throughout the process of campaign and in the implementation of the election-winning strategy is legendary.
“The victory of our party in Oke-Ero shows in clear terms the height of confidence the people have in the political leadership of the Senate President despite the defamatory commentary sponsored by his political adversaries and traducers.
“The people of Kwara State know the truth and they quite know where the truth stands. It is, therefore, a clear signal that Kwara is a no go area.
“This resounding victory is likewise a vote of confidence in the leadership of Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed. The political imbeciles who had predicted doom for our party at the poll due to the economic challenges facing the state are after all doomed. The present economic challenges are not peculiar to the state alone as they affect the entire country and the federal government.
“On our part, we are satisfied that the Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed-led administration has taken courageous steps to significantly reduce the cost of governance and at the same time doing what is necessary to increase the internally generated revenue in the state for the benefit of all Kwarans”, the party said
