Brief history of C.A.N and how ECWA president Rev Dr Gado emerge as ECWA/TEKAN presidential candidate for C.A.N

The Christian Association of Nigeria was founded in 1976 and at first only enclosed the Catholic Church and mainline Protestant groups. However, it later stretched to embrace the Pentecostal churches as well.
The Christian organization of Nigeria CAN is made up of five blocs; they are the
Christian Council of Nigeria, the Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria, the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, the aforementioned Organization of African Instituted Churches, and the Evangel call Fellowship of West Africa.
Ever since this nourishing spiritual body was created some 30years ago, it had in its shackle of Leadership:

1st. His Eminence Cardinal Ekandem (Late) 1976–1986

2nd. Anthony Cardinal Okogie, November 1988, re-elected 1992 – November 1995, (Lagos)

3rd-Jan. His Eminence Dr. Sunday C. Mbang, November 1995, re-elected 1999 – November 2003 (Akwa Ibom)

4th. Most Revd. Peter Akinola, November 2003–June 2007

5th. Archbishop John Onaiyekan, June 2007 – July 2010 (Kabba)

6th Ayo Oritsejafor, 2010, re-elected 2013– Present (Warri).

This is the first time TEKAN/ECWA bloc is sending a candidate to contest for CAN President and according to CAN constitution, only two of the five blocs are supposed to present candidates in the election.
That is TEKAN/ECWA and OAIC (Aforementioned Organization of African Instituted Churches) blocs.” The TEKAN/ECWA bloc of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) conducted a primary election where Reverend Dr. Jeremiah M. Gado The President of Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) won the election and declared to stand as the Christian Association Nigeria
(CAN) Presidential candidate 2016.

Every Christian must pray!
This is a position for those who fear and reverent the Lord.

The Bible evidently urged us to choose well respected men from each tribe who are known for their wisdom and understanding, and God Himself will appoint them as our leaders. Deut 1:13.

For those judging, be flawlessly fair in your decisions and impartial in your judgment. Hear the voices of those who are poor and rich as well, don’t be afraid of anyone’s anger for the decision you make is Gods decision. Duet 1:16&17
